Colchester Hospital are looking for someone that wants to help make a difference to our cancer patients.
We are looking for a driver who has a LGV Class 2 (C) driving license with experience of driving Light Goods Vehicles to drive our Mobile Chemotherapy Unit (MCU) from Colchester Hospital to the agreed daily location.Please ensure you indicate your LGV Class 2 (C) driving license on your application otherwise you may not be shortlisted.
In this post you will work part time 45 hours over 2 weeks. The current working pattern is: alternate Mondays (7 hours) and 9.5 hours on a Tuesday and Wednesday. These may be subject to change in the future upon needs of the service.
You will have direct contact with patients whilst the MCU is at its daily location including offering refreshments, assisting patients on and off the unit and ensuring chairs are cleaned between patients.
You will liaise with the nurses and other medical colleagues to ensure continuity and high quality care is given to patients during their visit to the MCU.
You will also be responsible for general maintenance of the vehicle and other legal requirements of drivers in accordance with industry standards and relevant road traffic law.
To drive the Mobile Chemotherapy Unit (MCU) from Colchester General Hospital to the agreed daily location whereby they will be responsible for setting up the unit so it is ready for the treating nurses to start seeing patients. You will ensure that the MCU is tidied up and safely return it at the end of the working day to the Colchester General Hospital.
You will be responsible for ensuring the general maintenance of the vehicle, daily inspections and other legal requirements of drivers in accordance with industry standards and relevant road traffic law.
The role involves direct patient contact whilst the MCU is at its daily location.
You will be responsible for ensuring the chairs are cleaned between patients and ensure the unit is cleaned at the end of the day.
To ensure refreshments are offered to patients whilst they are receiving treatment.
To assist patients on and off the unit, and to operate the lift when needed.
