We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team.
Job Overview:
The Quantity Surveyor will play a vital role in the team by performing detailed take-offs and preparing comprehensive cost estimates for various construction projects. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Quantity Take-Offs: Perform detailed quantity take-offs from architectural and structural engineers’ drawings and specifications.
2. Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction projects, considering all relevant factors such as materials, labour, plant, and overheads.
3. Valuations & Variations: Support customers with running their projects and completing valuations and variations on the projects won.
4. Documentation: Maintain and update cost databases, estimate files, and project documentation.
5. Tender Preparation: Assist in the preparation of customer tenders on their behalf, ensuring all required information is accurate and complete.
6. Communication: Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to obtain accurate and up-to-date pricing information.
7. Management: Manage a team of junior estimators, helping them move forward in their career and checking their work where required.
8. Analysis: Review and analyse project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to understand project requirements and scope.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Proven experience as a quantity surveyor or estimator in the construction industry.
2. Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
3. Proficiency in an estimating software. Training will be given on our bespoke system.
4. Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
5. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
6. Effective written and verbal communication skills.
7. Relevant qualifications in quantity surveying or commercial management along with a minimum of 5 years’ experience.
8. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
9. Ability to confidently discuss customer projects and represent the business with a strong focus on customer service.
10. Ability to work on multiple small projects concurrently.
11. The willpower and drive to actively grow a department.
