We are looking to recruit an individual who is enthusiastic and driven, with a thirst for learning and patient care, excellent communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to work both as part of a team, but also with autonomy. This is an opportunity to expand and enhance the current role, making it your own. Your role will be central to the multidisciplinary AMS team, working closely with other members from microbiology, Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) and Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT). Our focus is on embedding the principals of AMS into practice, to improve patient outcomes and reduce healthcare acquired infections, complications and resistance, in-line with local and national drivers. Main duties of the job This is an opportunity to have a varied and interesting role, that improves the quality of care and outcomes for patients. You will enhance your knowledge of antimicrobials, within a supportive local team, regional AMS pharmacy group, and national network of AMS technicians. You will be encouraged to share learning with the team and apply it to practice. You will be a key member of the multi-disciplinary AMS ward rounds, identifying, reviewing and following up patients. You will actively participate in the AMS Team meetings, focus groups and clinical and governance meetings relevant to the role. You will identify, develop and implement improvement projects and initiatives, guidelines and resources. You will perform audits to monitor practice and performance and prepare and deliver reports to key stakeholders within the Trust. You will be supported to perform practice-based research, with opportunities for attendance in conferences as well as publications. You will contribute to workforce development by supporting training initiatives for pharmacy staff and the wider MDT, including development of digital prescribing tools. In addition to your specialist work, you will maintain your general ward-based skills including service provision within the pharmacy medicines management technician team. There will also be an element of regular dispensary ACT cover, and weekend working.
