Under the general supervision of the Manager of Breast Imaging, the Mammography Technologist provides Mammographic technical skills to support the Department's mission. Duties include working as a technologist and performing tasks in other areas and/or modalities as necessary. The Mammography Technologist performs mammography exams for the diagnosis and treatment of disease or injury to patients of all ages.
Requires knowledge of the principles and procedures of diagnostic radiology and mammography, as well as the operation and maintenance of Radiologic equipment, including mammography machines.
Generally acquired through the completion of two years of post-high school training in an approved school of Radiologic Technology. MSRT/ARRT (M) certification is required.
The Mammographer requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, address their apprehensions, instruct students, and provide technical supervision to staff technologists.
A state Radiology/mammography license is required, along with all applicable Radiology/mammography education requirements.
