We are pleased to be offering an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join our Immunology team based at the Queens Medical Centre Campus. This is a part-time post working 30 hours/week.
Our Immunology department provides a unique opportunity to experience a very large repertoire of Immunology investigations with a variety of techniques using some of the latest equipment. This includes Dx Flex and Aquios flow cytometers, DS2 ELISA processors, 2 Bioflash chemiluminescent instruments, 2 Unicap 250s, Quantalyser 3000 IIF processor and Euroblotone blot processor.
Bringing with you substantial Immunology experience with sound scientific and technical knowledge of Immunological techniques, you will be a highly motivated HCPC state registered BMS who holds an IBMS specialist diploma in Immunology. Candidates who are near to completion of the portfolio will also be considered.
You will also work closely with the senior team to ensure the smooth running of the laboratory through management and training of staff, and take an active role in ensuring our quality agenda is central to all we do. You will also be required to troubleshoot equipment and assay failures and contribute to the development of the service by participating in verification and change management projects.
The department is UKAS (ISO15189:22) accredited and CPD is actively encouraged and supported. There is also the possibility to study for the IBMS Higher specialist diploma.
As a Specialist Biomedical Scientist, the post holder’s main role is to carry out the examination of samples using various technologies which may be of a specialist nature and to report or present the results as appropriate. It is expected that the post holder would have a considerable degree of autonomy and would be able to work unsupervised for significant periods.
The post holder will be expected to assist the section manager in the daily operation of the assigned section including the supervision of more junior State Registered BMS and support staff.
