Palliative Personal Care Assistant for a gentleman P/T @ £13.09/hr in Blyth - FTE - £25.5k - Blyth - NE24
We are looking for a kind, caring and committed care assistant to support a 53-year-old gentleman in the Blyth area to remain independent at home. The gentleman lives with his wife and 11-year-old daughter and has three grown-up children. He has young onset dementia impacting all aspects of his daily life and epilepsy.
There is a team of carers in place already, and we are looking for an enthusiastic applicant to complete the team. There is a small dog in the property, so the successful applicant MUST be willing to work in a property with animals.
Please be advised the client is palliative care, and applicants willing to accept a temporary position will be taken forward for face-to-face interviews.
The ideal applicant will:
1. Be willing to support with all daily living tasks including personal care, toileting, and feeding support.
2. Be experienced supporting individuals both mentally and physically. Informal experience is considered.
3. Be able to build a relationship with the client through encouragement, engagement, and communication.
4. Support him in caring for his daughter when his wife is at work.
5. Work alongside the gentleman’s family and team of care workers to meet his needs and access appropriate activities. He requires 2:1 support, and you must be physically able to manage the demands of the role.

Rate of Pay: £13.09 per hour

* Monday 7am - 8am x 2 people
3pm - 9pm x 1 person
Tuesday 7am - 8am x 2 people
Wednesday 7am - 8am x 2 people
1pm - 9pm x 1 person
Thursday 7am - 9pm x 1 person
Friday 7am - 8am x 2 people
3pm - 9pm x 1 person
Saturday 7am - 9pm x 1 person
Sunday 7am - 9pm x 1 person
Total weekly hours open = 70
******Shifts can be split and worked between multiple carers******
* Holiday and Sickness cover – ad hoc as required.
* Holiday pay is accrued at 5.6 weeks pro rata per year.
An enhanced disclosure and barring certificate for adults and children will be required. The full cost will be met by the employer.
All training as appropriate will be provided via on-the-job, online, and face-to-face training. The successful applicant will have access to the local authority learning together portals for all appropriate training.
