An exciting opportunity has arisen at our established and busy practice for an experienced Part Time (approx. 2 days per week) Health Care Assistant to join our team at Pilgrims Way Surgery.
The role will provide and maintain a high standard of nursing care for patients as well as provide nursing assistance to the doctors and other members of the primary healthcare team.
Main duties of the job
Phlebotomy is essential.
The role can include other HCA patient tasks such as ECG, ABPM, and wound care depending on training.
The HCA's job is to deliver basic patient care, monitor conditions of patients, and engage in screening and health prevention activities. An HCA works collaboratively with general practitioners to provide assessment, treatment, education, and care to all kinds of patients, ranging from infants to elderly people.
* Assessing and providing care to patients with uncomplicated wounds.
* Taking urine and blood samples.
* Performing routine procedures like BP, height and weight measurements, treating wounds, and applying or removing dressings is desirable.
* Providing advice or offering specialist information in areas like blood pressure, heart conditions, giving up smoking, and weight control.
* Restocking and maintaining consulting and clinical areas.
* Taking accurate and comprehensible notes regarding patient consultations and treatments.
* Updating details about patients and their treatments in the clinical computer system.
About us
We are looking for an HCA to join our friendly practice on a permanent basis.
You will work as part of the Pilgrims Way Surgery team, which is made up of two GP partners, one salaried GP, one paramedic, one physician associate, two practice nurses, one health care assistant, and administrative staff.
We are a medical training practice, and you will also work alongside ST1s, ST3s, and medical students.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths.
* Qualified to NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care.
* Phlebotomy trained.
* Experience in immunisations, INR, ECGs, and wound management.
* Use of clinical IT systems.
* Knowledge of Information Governance and Caldicott Principles.
* Understanding of Clinical Governance.
* Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and time management.
