Job Description
Qualified Social Worker, West Midlands Council, Children's Fostering Team - Must be a Qualified Social Worker with a minimum of 2 years+ UK Social Worker experience within a Children's Social Work team.
The team works extremely well together to ensure the safety of children under the close supervision of a supportive Team Manager.
Responsibilities
1. Assess the needs of children with an adoption or long term fostering plan.
2. Establish the capacities or qualities of the permanent family required.
3. Undertake the search work to identify that family and establish a strong match.
4. Lead on the matching report and support plan, presentation to panel for approval, coordination of the child’s preparation, and transition planning.
5. Have sound knowledge of child development, the effects of early childhood abuse and neglect, and signs of developmental trauma.
6. Possess skills in the assessment of children’s current and future needs, parenting capacities, and provision of support.
7. Manage children’s care plans, present to panels, respond to court directions, and produce child-centred, evidence-based reports in a timely manner.
8. Advise and guide the team around the child on the processes for permanency and overcoming barriers to progress.
9. Assess the values base of a range of families presenting as adopters or foster carers without prejudice.
10. Previous work experience in Family Finding Services is ideal; however, relevant experience in adoption assessment or support or fostering assessment and support is also acceptable.
11. Be keen to learn and proactive in transferring knowledge and skills to a new area if lacking Family Finding experience; support will be provided.
12. Join a well-established, experienced, and stable team that values good working relationships.
13. Work 37 hours per week (flexible by negotiation).
14. 3 month Temporary Contract.
15. Start date subject to DBS and reference clearance.

The successful candidate will need to hold a DipSW or equivalent, must be registered with the HCPC, have a current DBS, and be a car driver.
