We are delighted to partner with our client, a rapidly evolving business in the East Midlands, to recruit an Interim Head of Financial Reporting on a six-month contract. The role reports directly to the Group Financial Controller, supports a key reporting cycle, and provides critical leadership and technical expertise during a period of strategic activity.
As Interim Head of Financial Reporting, you will take ownership of the end-to-end external financial reporting process, ensuring the timely delivery of statutory accounts, regulatory submissions, and high-quality reporting. You will lead an established reporting team and collaborate closely with senior stakeholders across Group Finance, Audit, and the Board.
Location: East Midlands (2-3 days per week onsite)
Contract length: 6 months ongoing
Candidate rate: £700-£800 per day (outside IR35)
Key Responsibilities of the Interim Head of Financial Reporting
1. Lead the preparation and delivery of the Group's consolidated statutory accounts under IFRS, ensuring full compliance with all UK regulatory requirements.
2. Manage all external reporting processes, including interim and year-end reporting cycles.
3. Act as primary liaison with external auditors, ensuring smooth and efficient audit completion.
4. Provide technical accounting expertise on complex accounting treatments, new IFRS developments, and disclosure requirements.
5. Maintain a strong internal control environment and governance framework, working closely with the Group Financial Controller.
6. Identify and drive process improvements and efficiencies within the reporting function.
7. Partner with key internal stakeholders, including FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and the Board, to ensure alignment and clarity of financial information.
Essential Requirements of the Interim Head of Financial Reporting
1. Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) - Big 4 trained preferred.
2. Significant post-qualification experience in senior financial reporting roles within large and complex organisations.
3. Deep technical knowledge of IFRS and experience leading group consolidations.
4. Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, able to influence senior leaders, auditors, and cross-functional teams.
5. Proactive, solutions-focused approach with a commitment to delivering to tight deadlines.
