Job overview
We are looking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Senior Clinical Fellow/Portfolio pathway fellow in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit starting in March 2025. This post offers a fantastic opportunity for doctors training in paediatrics/neonatology to gain a broad-based experience in neonatal critical care at a large London neonatal unit alongside a full educational programme and opportunities to enhance their quality improvement, leadership and research skills. Bespoke support is also provided to senior fellows wanting to CESR in neonatal medicine (portfolio pathway). The post holder will be expected to contribute to the tier 2 rota (Middle Grade ST4-8, Senior Clinical Fellow). They will need to have excellent clinical skills, evidence-based knowledge and understanding to provide holistic care for premature and acutely sick newborns and their families.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will gain extensive experience in managing sick surgical infants.
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital is internationally reputable for their research excellence. C&W is home to the National Neonatal Research Database used for national and international population neonatal epidemiological studies.
Applicants must have middle-grade experience in Neonatology and be able to demonstrate competency in neonatal resuscitation, intubation and management of ventilated infants. The post would suit both UK trainees seeking out of programme experience/training to enhance their level 2/3 neonatal training and international trainees seeking a training opportunity that parallels UK grid training.
Working for our organisation
We provide services from two main hospitals, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex University Hospital, and a number of clinics across London and the South-East. We have over 6,000 members of staff that are PROUD to Care for nearly one million people. Both hospitals provide full clinical services, including full maternity, emergency and children’s, in addition to a range of community-based services across London, such as award-winning sexual health and HIV clinics.
We’re one of the best performing Trusts in the country. We’re also one of the top trusts to work for – our staff say they’re engaged, motivated, and would recommend us as a place to work and receive treatment.
Our Trust has been rated by the Care Quality Commission as ‘Good’ in all five of the main domains of safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led, giving us an overall rating of ‘Good’. We’ve also been awarded an ‘Outstanding’ rating for ‘use of resources’ by an NHS Improvement inspection.
Our facilities are some of the best in the country. We have been investing around £10 million a year in our estate. We are currently spending £25 million on expanding our adult and neonatal critical care facilities at Chelsea and Westminster and redevelopment of our children’s unit at West Middlesex – in partnership with our charity, CW+ and generous donors.
