If you thrive in a supportive role and want to help students overcome challenges to achieve their best, this is the role for you About the Role: As an SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA), you will work closely with students who need additional support to succeed in their academic and personal development. This role requires patience, empathy, and creativity to help students build confidence and develop the skills they need to thrive. Your contributions will be pivotal in creating an inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environment. SEMH Teaching Assistant Responsibilities: Support students with SEMH needs on a one-to-one or small group basis. Foster a safe and supportive classroom environment where students can express themselves. Assist in implementing individualised support plans tailored to students' needs. Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being through mentoring and guidance. Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure cohesive student support. Monitor and report on student progress and areas of development. Encourage students to engage in learning and extracurricular activities. Provide assistance during transitions and challenging situations to ensure continuity in learning. Skills & Requirements: Prior experience working with students with SEMH needs as a SEMH Teaching Assistant or in a similar role is desirable. Any degree in Education, Psychology or in a similar field. Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or childcare, or equivalent are beneficial. A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting students. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trust with students and staff.
