The Senior Research and Development Director Advanced Staining Reagents is responsible for leading a strategically important global strategy, for the development, growth and successful execution of complex, advanced staining assays, reagents, and companion diagnostics, positioning LBS as a leading-edge cancer diagnostics partner with a vision to advance cancer diagnostics and improve lives.
This position is part of the Research and Development (R&D) team located in Newcastle, UK, and will be an on-site position. You will be a part of the Advanced Staining Reagents (ASR) Leadership team and report to the Vice President Advanced Staining Reagents. In this role, you are responsible for developing strategies and tactics aimed at realizing the commercial potential of the full Advanced Assays and Reagents portfolio against the highest EHS standards.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
1. Drive execution of these strategies through a team of highly experienced individuals, who successfully deliver complex high classification projects from ideation stage to commercially viable products across detection and reagent portfolios.
2. Lead the development of technology, establishment of partnerships and the execution of project roadmaps – including covering IHC RNA, ISH and DNA ISH assays, reagents, and companion diagnostics for Leica Biosystems.
3. Build collaborative partnerships within the Advanced Staining and Imaging Leadership teams. Work with business units (Melbourne, Amsterdam, and Danvers) as well as Innovation, Business Development and Companion Diagnostics (CDX) teams to assess potential opportunities in the marketplace through building relationships with key opinion leaders at the highest level.
The essential requirements of the job include:
* Significant experience leading complex R&D strategy, development, growth, and successful execution of complex high classification programs.
* Experience in working with emerging, innovative products and creating market demand for products and services.
* Previous experience in histopathology, and pathology imaging staining.
* Ability to lead a diverse highly skilled R&D team.
* Experience working within the FDA and BSI regulatory environment.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
* Troubleshooting complex scientific/technical problems.
* Building strong external alliances, leveraging relationships and market visibility channels in adjacent industries.
