Position:
An opportunity has arisen for a Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner / Trainee Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at University Hospital Crosshouse.
What you will do:
This ANNP role is distinct from nursing but arises from extended nursing practice. The role incorporates the traditional medical role enabling a holistic approach to neonatal care providing advanced clinical skills to babies and supporting their families within the neonatal service. The ANNP works in collaboration with the Clinical Nurse Manager Neonatal Services and Consultant Neonatologist/Paediatricians:
1. Provide expert clinical care at an advanced level to neonates and families, making complex autonomous diagnosis and management decisions, about patient care, utilising advanced skills and knowledge.
2. Establish interchanging roles with junior medical staff on a regular, planned basis by working in partnership to ensure neonates receive the most appropriate specialist care, regardless of the unpredictability of the workload.
3. Act as an educator, expert clinician, consultant, auditor and researcher.
Applicants who partially meet the essential criteria will be considered for a trainee Band 8A (AfC Annex 21 applies) and where required, you will be provided with a programme of training during your first three years of employment, specifically around managing the acutely unwell neonate, physical health assessment, advanced life support and area specific training.
Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:
1. 1st level registered nurse (child or adult) / midwife with current (NMC) registration and relevant post basic neonatal qualification.
2. Experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit demonstrating the appropriate competencies and skills for the job, including technical competency for invasive procedures.
3. Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Qualification at Master’s level or equivalent education/ clinical experience.

Various hours per week.
UK Driving Licence/Car Ownership:
UK driving licence/Car ownership is essential to this role.
