We are currently hiring for a Head of Public Affairs and Communications in the packaging and sustainability industry. As the Head of Public Affairs and Communications, you will report to the UK Managing Director with a functional reporting line to the Director of Public Affairs Europe. This pivotal role will see you shaping and delivering the public affairs and communications strategy across the UK, Ireland, and selected EU countries. Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate closely with the Director of Public Affairs Europe and SIPG to support group initiatives across the UK, Ireland, and selected EU countries.
* Support commercial teams by providing insights into the legislative landscape, packaging regulations, sustainability policies, and economic developments.
* Develop and implement strategies to influence policy and legislation across key markets.
* Conduct research and analysis on relevant legislative and policy issues affecting the business.
* Partner with the Director of Communications to craft press releases, articles, newsletters, and reports, ensuring a consistent and impactful online presence.
* Build and maintain relationships with lawmakers, government officials, customers, and trade bodies to promote collaborative approaches.
* Represent the business at events, conferences, committee hearings, and special interest groups.
* Provide strategic political and public policy advice to senior executives, identifying key trends and advising on responses.
* Stay informed on UK funding streams, grants, and pending legislation.
The ideal candidate will have:
* Proven experience in public affairs, government relations, or corporate communications within the UK or EU.
* Strong understanding of legislative processes, sustainability policies, and economic frameworks.
* Excellent communication, networking, and stakeholder management skills.
* Experience working with trade bodies and special interest groups.
* The ability to translate complex policy developments into commercial opportunities.
