Hours: 20 hours per week, 52 weeks per year (Fixed term until March 2025)

Salary: Approx. £19,626 pro rata (FTE £36,800 Per Annum) Subject to experience and qualification

HMP Erlestoke has an exciting opportunity for an English Lecturer to join the prison-based Education Team, delivering Functional Skills English from Entry Level to Level 2.
We are seeking a creative and inspiring Tutor who can deliver engaging classes to learners who are based within the prison. As an English Tutor, you will be supporting learners to achieve success and guiding them through the courses. You will not only help them to achieve qualifications but also confidence and skills they can apply to employment upon release or to other areas within education.
Minimum Requirements:
All offers made to successful candidates are subject to satisfactory outcomes to a range of pre-employment checks including a Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS). In addition, security clearance is required for all prison services positions up to Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) level.

ABOUT HMP ERLESTOKE
HMP Erlestoke is a Category C prison, holding approximately 444 adult male sentenced offenders. The prison's focus is firmly fixed on reducing re-offending and preventing future victims of crime by preparing offenders for their release through accredited intervention programmes, skill and vocational based training and education, in a pro-social environment.
Courses at HMP Erlestoke include Maths, English, IT, Horticulture, Carpentry, Cleaning and Support Services, Hospitality, Creative Craft, Customer Service, Team Leading, Learning Support and much more.
The education delivery hours are Monday to Thursday 8.30am – 11.30am, 2.00pm – 4.30pm and on Fridays 8.30am – 11.30am.
Erlestoke staff and learners get involved with various projects each year. In 24/25 Erlestoke held an archaeological dig and a two-week Arts festival “Penned Up” giving learners the opportunity to hear from authors, refreshing attitudes, thinking and developing a focus on reading.
Erlestoke issues an internal magazine highlighting various events, projects and support alongside articles, interviews and shared experiences as well as promoting well-being and education.
