Role Purpose: To manage, lead and direct a multi-discipline Project Engineering & Technology department/team to meet agreed targets in the implementation of the business Capital and Revenue Programme. Provide a specialist multi-discipline engineering support service in order to achieve the policies and project objectives of the Hub or business unit. Accountabilities: To manage, lead and direct a multi-discipline Project Engineering & Technology department or team to meet agreed targets in the implementation of the Capital and Revenue Programme or major project. Lead department and capital expenditure annual plan development and delivery. Communicate issues and progress to relevant levels of the organisation. To participate in, and lead where appropriate, companywide engineering developments. To lead and participate in corporate and external knowledge sharing as required. Ensure all relevant Safety and Environmental legislation, procedures, standards, behaviours and performance targets applicable to the hub / business and its associated activities are applied to the Business Support Programmes (Capital Development, Revenue Spend, Process Control Developments and Technology). Develop appropriate standards and instructions Lead organisation and job design processes for the department/major project and ensure department size and capability mix is optimised for successful delivery of assigned responsibilities. Carry out a full range of management activities, including effectively implementing performance management processes so that staff maximise their performance and individual performance issues are addressed. Plan, manage and control ongoing professional engineering processes and activities for the Project Engineering & Technology department/project team, ensuring a full understanding of business risk and priorities, and oversee all activities to ensure they are carried out effectively and efficiently in line with all requirements. Delivering departmental performance against annual plan targets and satisfying internal customer requirements. Liaise with the relevant Engineering & Operations Manager’s and other key stakeholders to ensure the necessary support is given to their area of responsibility in Project Engineering & Technology activities. Manage assigned capital & revenue budgets and direct, lead, coach, develop and motivate employees to ensure the accountabilities of the department are delivered and to enable them to maximise their potential. Monitor and manage the business capital work done performance against annual plan. Direct and monitor the development and implementation of the capital plan as part of the overall business plan. Determine appropriate contract strategies for procurement of capital plant and equipment. Develop strategies for future professional engineering services provision, ensure the business takes full advantage of developing / changing technology. Monitor and report key performance indicators for department and capital expenditure (capex) project / programme performance against agreed plans. To benchmark and establish best practice. Ensure effective process governance in area of control, including overseeing the design of modifications and improvements to processes in accordance with relevant standards, best practice and developing needs. Ensure effective governance and procedural control of the Capex programme and individual project delivery against recognised standards / methodology Develop, approve, implement and monitor projects documentation to ensure compliance with current and emerging regulation, standards, best practice etc. Context: Job holders are required to interact on a regular basis with all levels within the organisation - from team member to Chief Technical Officer. The role is also required to interact with external contractors / agencies to enable effective operational performance. Will be responsible for setting policy and ensuring delivery within area of responsibility, linking with other parts of the function.
