Here at Hitachi Rail, we have a great opportunity for a dedicated Driver Refueller to join our team based in London at North Pole Train Maintenance Centre.
Accountabilities
In this role, you will drive, replenish, and service trains, as well as support maintenance staff with corrective and preventative maintenance of Hitachi rolling stock assets. This is a permanent position working on a rotating shift basis.
Specifically, your responsibilities will include:
* Undertaking train movements under the control of the PIC (Person in Charge), within the Train Maintenance Centre.
* Servicing arriving trains, including replenishing Diesel, Ad-Blu, fresh water, windscreen wash, sand hoppers, and toilet system servicing.
* Recording all servicing activities and materials used in the maintenance management system (MMS).
* Monitoring the MMS (SAP) to ensure accurate recording of all work.
* Performing daily checks of service spine equipment and maintaining a tidy work area.
* Reporting defects to the Refuelling Team Leader/Duty Shift Manager and recording them in the MMS.
* Supporting maintenance staff with repairs, fault finding, and preventative maintenance.
* Contributing to the development of the MMS, ensuring all servicing requirements are captured and executed.
* Controlling and recording fluid and material usage, and managing materials returned to stores.
* Adhering to lean principles and best practices, including at other locations as needed.
* Supporting the availability of trains for service in collaboration with maintenance staff and cleaners.
About you
Required Skills/Knowledge
* Experience supporting a maintenance team in a modern rolling stock depot or similar environment.
* Safety awareness in operational railway settings.
* Understanding of safe systems of work.
* Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
* Experience with modern maintenance management systems (MMS) and trend analysis.
* Manual Handling, COSHH, working at height, and use of powered tools and plant (air/110v).
* An engineering background is preferable.
