Salary: Base salary: £47450pa to c.£67300pa depending on skills and experience. In addition, we offer flexible benefits fund of 20% which is paid on top base salary and is fully pensionable, as well as a range of competitive benefits.

As an Operations Development Manager with HS2, you will provide operations subject matter expertise to critical activities relating to the development and delivery of technical and operational systems and processes.
About the role:
* Lead the cross-functional engagement related to the specialist operational context of the role with suppliers, project teams and other stakeholders, including Network Rail, West Coast Partnership Development.
* Provide relevant operations subject matter expertise into the specification, development, delivery and procurement of technical and operational systems, including attendance at design reviews and Factory and User Acceptance Testing.
* Support the development and delivery of Trial Operations exercises.
* As operations subject matter expert, set the criteria for the development of Trial Operations exercise delivery packs and desktop exercises.
* Provide relevant operations subject matter expertise into the identification of requirements for instructional material and collaborate with the relevant operations team discipline.
* Provide relevant operations subject matter expertise to hazard identification, risk assessments, and the development of rules, specifications and controls.
* Lead on identifying the competency requirements of Train Service Delivery function resources.
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide relevant operations subject matter expertise into the development of recruitment, selection, training, mentoring, assessment and competence management material.
* Collaborate with industry partners such as Network Rail to ensure the systems and processes implemented support the operation of the end state railway.
* Support benchmarking and learning from incidents, new technologies, processes and practices.
* Actively promote and embed Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work.
About You:
Skills:
* Ability to motivate and lead others, including non-direct reports.
* Ability to deploy and share technical expertise and operational experience to influence outcomes.
* Effective communication skills, including presenting to panels.
* Ability to apply business judgment to decision-making.
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Knowledge:
* Project lifecycle, including the specification, development, delivery, testing and bringing into use of railway infrastructure and systems.
* The functional structure of the UK rail networks and operational roles and responsibilities.
* Railway operational standards, policies and procedures.
* Technical functionality of railway operations sub-systems.
* Level 3 and above or equivalent qualification in training delivery and/or assessment.
* Personal Track Safety or the ability to attain it.
Type of experience:
* Project Management, leading projects in an individual capacity and as part of a wider programme delivery.
* Operational experience in a rail control centre, with experience of signalling and incident management.
* Delivery of major infrastructure projects.
* Engagement, consultation and negotiation with internal and external stakeholders.
