Job overview
Due to the opening of a new Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) in Workington, we are seeking two Highly Specialist Cardiac Physiologists to join our team. You should be an experienced Echosonographer, able to perform and report independently, as well as train and support other staff. Experience in Transoesophageal Echo (TOE), Dobutamine Stress Echo (DSE), and Paediatric Echo is desirable, but training will be available if necessary.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated and dynamic, looking to expand their experience and develop their career. They should have a BSc in Clinical Physiology or equivalent and BSE accreditation.
You will be based at the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle but will also be expected to work at the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven and the CDC on rotation.
Main duties of the job
1. To perform and report routine and urgent Echocardiograms on inpatients and outpatients autonomously.
2. To perform highly specialist, complex Echo investigations such as transoesophageal echo, Physiologist-led stress echo, Paediatric echo, 3D echo, contrast studies, and bubble echo, interpreting the results and producing a clinical report.
3. Refer patients on for further investigations as appropriate.
4. Act as a mentor for trainee echo sonographers providing day-to-day support and training for other healthcare professionals as required.

Person specification
Qualifications
* BSc (Hons) Clinical Physiology or equivalent
* BSE accreditation or equivalent
* Further development to postgraduate diploma or equivalent.
* ILS or equivalent
Experience
* Experienced in all aspects of technical Echocardiology, including practice with a wide array of technical equipment.
* Extensive practical experience in technical echocardiology, with experience at a senior level of independent practice including investigation, interpretation, reporting, and recommending alternative investigations.
* Experience at performing and reporting complex echo (e.g., DSE, TOE, Paediatrics, Bubble studies, contrast echo, etc.).
* Staff management and training.
Knowledge
* Advanced knowledge of Echocardiography and interpretation.
* Ability to identify relevant timescales for results and when medical intervention is required.
* Knowledge of other invasive and non-invasive Cardiology investigations performed in the department.
* Able to use specialized IT software for Cardiology Investigations.
Skills and Aptitudes
* Basic IT skills.
* Able to work as part of a team to ensure the best outcome for the patient.
* Able to work autonomously, without direct supervision, within your areas of clinical competence.
