Multi-Skilled Engineer – Ellesmere Port

We are looking for a multi-skilled Engineer with an electrical bias who has experience with manufacturing machinery in a manufacturing plant. You must have a formal qualification to support your experience.
Shifts are: 4 on 4 off. We operate 24/7, 365 days a year. Shift patterns may slightly vary initially.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities of the Multi-Skilled Engineer
* Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice maintenance strategy, systems, processes and procedures to improve equipment reliability.
* Assist in the development, application, and reporting on appropriate maintenance performance measures.
* Assist in the development of maintenance plans as part of the yearly planning process.
* Assist in the development of maintenance and operations skill levels to promote cross-skilling and improved equipment utilization effectiveness.
* Participate in the development and implementation of preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
* Minimize unscheduled equipment downtime and time to repair (Reactive – unplanned and urgent).
* Involved in the engineering, installation, commissioning, and handover of new projects.
* Use planning and scheduling systems to improve the efficiency of maintenance operations and hence Overall Equipment Effectiveness.
* Assist with planning and organizing work on allocated improvement projects and for the week ahead.
* Assist with planning and organizing routine maintenance tasks using the CMMS system. Complete reports of performed work.
* Use the purchasing and stores system to complete work requirements.
* Provide good communication at shift hand-over to ensure continuity of work and the integrity of safe working systems.
* Identify equipment issues and advise on work needed and opportunities for improvement.
* Troubleshoot equipment/process problems to root cause in conjunction with team members to ensure rapid resolution of problems and ensure team members learn from the experience.
* Responsible for preventing reoccurrence of equipment failures by root cause analysis and initiating solutions ensuring OEE improvements.
* Track and report compliance to daily maintenance plans.
* Identify and implement recovery plans when work is behind schedule.
* Personal operation of plant, process, or equipment systems as necessary to maintain and optimize work quality, safety, and throughput of the team.
* Work in conjunction with Production in efficiently completing all necessary maintenance and changeover activities within agreed timeframes.
* Assist in a process of operator upskilling to take on tasks of lubrication, changeovers, audits, inspections, and repairs.
* Implementation and monitoring of equipment pre-start check systems.
* Ensure that the Spare Parts stores are controlled and support maintenance efficiency.
* Involved in carrying out Criticality/Obsolescence assessments and implementing action plans.

* Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
* Great attention to detail.
* Good organizational and self-motivational skills.
* Ability to work on own initiative without supervision.
