A Duty and assessment Social worker required to cover a recent vacancy within Manchester Council based in Harpurhey. You will work on a team with 1 Team manager, 2 Advanced practitioners and 4 social workers of varying experience. You will be on duty week once every 5 weeks and in between duty weeks will be completing assessments of children to assess the risk for them and determine their level of need.
You will be expected to visit children regularly and be confident in engaging children to understand what life looks like for them. Be able to co-ordinate and chair CIN meetings and strategy meetings in a timely manner and ensure we have a working plan for the child to reduce risk and access early support for children and families. You will be expected to adhere to timescales for children which includes seeing children in timescales and also completing assessments in timescales. You will be on a supportive team and whilst the area has high demand caseloads on duty do not exceed 25.

As Social Worker you will be responsible for:
* When a referral comes in, the team conducts initial assessments to determine the level of risk and need for intervention. They evaluate the child’s safety and well-being.
* Based on the assessment, the team decides whether the child requires further support, intervention, or statutory services. They consider factors like parental capacity, family dynamics, and any risks present.
* If the child’s needs can be met through non-statutory services, the duty and assessment team refers them to appropriate community resources. They also signpost families to relevant support networks.
* Completing Section 47 enquiries
* When there are safeguarding concerns, the Duty And Assessment team initiates child protection procedures. This involves working closely with other agencies, professionals, and families to ensure the child’s safety.
* The team collaborates with schools, health professionals, police, and other agencies. They attend strategy meetings, case conferences, and court hearings as needed.

* Social Work England registration
* Eligible to work in the UK
* Hold a full UK license
* Post-qualified experience
* Degree level or equivalent in Social Work
