Role Responsibility
Fairlawn offers overnight short breaks for children in Kent from the age of 5 to 18 years old, who have learning disabilities and/or Autism, and will have some additional support needs. These may include health related needs, behaviours of concern, and help with every day tasks. We always support children to have fun with their friends and peers, to learn skills, make choices, and to be supported in a safe and nurturing environment, so that they, and their families, can have a break.
We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, be able to work as part of a busy team providing a high standard of health and safety and upkeep the cleanliness standards within the unit.
To succeed in this role, we are looking for someone who has:
1. To have awareness of Health and Safety
2. To be able to create a clean, safe environment for children, visitors, and staff.
3. To be willing to keep knowledge and training up to date.
4. To be willing to work with the team to ensure safety of all visiting and working in the unit.
5. To be able to manage the safety of all equipment including pat testing annually.
6. To maintain the decoration of the unit to a high standard.
7. To have an awareness of COSHH and infection control
8. To work alongside manager with the corporate landlords on the upkeep of the unit and raise any tasks as required.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
Interviews will be conducted under the Choosing with Care assessment process over two days
Day One - a look around the unit to be booked prior to 30/07/2024 and will be 30mins duration
Day Two - 30/07/2024 10.00 to 15.00 and will include all elements of the interview (group discussion, Written exercises, Personal Profile and formal interview questions)
