Working Hours: 37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours
Assignment Duration: This opening assignment is for 3-6 months

Hybrid: can work 1 day in the office, 1 day from home

We are seeking an interim Environment Officer to join our client’s small team for a 3-6 month period. You’ll bring biodiversity, ecological, and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) expertise to support the team, with a key focus on processing outstanding planning applications, including those in the paid-for service.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide professional advice on biodiversity issues related to pre-planning enquiries, planning applications, and appeals.
2. Work strategically with colleagues to deliver Biodiversity Net Gain through the planning system, focusing on the Environment Act 2021 requirements.
3. Assist the team in finding innovative solutions to protect and enhance West Yorkshire's diverse wildlife.
Key Requirements:
1. A degree in ecology or a related field, or equivalent experience.
2. Ideally CIEMMA qualified.
3. Strong knowledge of the Environment Act and mandatory Biodiversity Net Gain requirements.
4. Proven experience in providing biodiversity/ecological advice to a range of stakeholders, particularly regarding BNG.
5. Experience working in a planning development management setting, ideally with local authority experience or an understanding of their processes and policies.
