Senior Sister / Charge Nurse - Ward 2 Elderly Care (Band 7)
We are looking for a compassionate and highly motivated Senior Sister/Charge Nurse to lead our dedicated clinical team. We are seeking an enthusiastic, good role model with a keen interest in caring for the elderly care population.
Applicants should display effective leadership and management skills to deliver high-quality patient-focused care. You will demonstrate progressive skills in leadership, advanced clinical practice, and service development. You will join a multi-disciplinary team committed to high-quality, patient-centred care, continuous service and staff development, and strong collaborative working with other agencies.
The successful applicant will work with the Matron to promote a culture fostering staff involvement and a progressive attitude to service improvement, along with taking operational and clinical day-to-day management responsibility at team level using performance management systems. You will also work collaboratively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.

Main duties of the job
The Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in Ward 2, specialising in Elderly Care, holds overall responsibility for managing care delivery in line with Trust policies and procedures. They have overall management responsibility for ensuring high-quality care delivery within the ward, adhering to Trust policies and procedures. Their role involves providing senior leadership to the nursing team, facilitating regular supervision and appraisals, and managing resources efficiently. They also play a key role in coordinating multidisciplinary teams to ensure smooth communication and continuity of care across services.
Additionally, the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse is expected to maintain clinical standards in line with the Nursing and Midwifery Council's Code of Professional Conduct. They ensure that patient care is at the heart of service delivery and are a visible, supportive figure to staff, patients, and visitors within the clinical environment.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Evidence of further education at Degree level
* Further leadership/management-related qualification, training, or experience.
Knowledge & Skills
* Specialist knowledge in clinical area with relevant experience at band 6 or above in an appropriate area.
* Good organisational/management skills.
* Ability to make appropriate decisions at all levels
* Ability to lead and develop individuals and teams.
* Ability to develop/sustain appropriate professional relationships/networks to influence care systems.
* Lead on or been involved in quality improvement initiatives
Experience
* Experience managing a group of staff to deliver patient care.
* Experience in implementing improvements in practice/protocol or procedures.
* Experience in appraisal and delivering education to junior staff.
* Experience of using a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
* Demonstrable evidence of implementing change in the clinical area.
