Role Overview:
We are seeking a talented and experienced SCADA Engineer to join our team in Reading. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SCADA systems, particularly with AVEVA System Platform, FactoryTalk View, or InTouch. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge automation projects and contribute to the design, development, commissioning, and maintenance of complex SCADA solutions for a range of industries, including manufacturing, energy, and utilities.
As a SCADA Engineer, you will work closely with our project teams and clients to deliver high-performance SCADA systems that ensure seamless operations, safety, and compliance. You will be responsible for system design, configuration, troubleshooting, and support for SCADA software and hardware platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
SCADA System Design & Configuration: Design and configure SCADA systems using AVEVA System Platform, FactoryTalk View, or InTouch to meet client specifications. This includes developing HMI screens, setting up alarms, historical data storage, and ensuring system integration with other industrial control systems.
System Integration & Testing: Integrate SCADA systems with PLCs, RTUs, and other field devices. Conduct thorough system testing, ensuring all components function as intended and meet performance and safety standards.
Software Development: Develop and maintain scripts, templates, and custom applications within SCADA platforms to enhance system functionality and improve operational efficiency.
Commissioning & Installation: Support on-site commissioning and installation of SCADA systems. Provide remote or on-site support to ensure successful project delivery and address any issues that arise during installation.
Documentation & Reporting: Prepare clear and concise documentation, including system configurations, operational manuals, and troubleshooting guides. Maintain a record of all changes made to the system.
Compliance & Standards: Ensure all SCADA systems meet industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices for cybersecurity and system performance.
About You:
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated SCADA Engineer with:
SCADA Expertise: Extensive experience in designing, configuring, and supporting SCADA systems, specifically AVEVA System Platform, FactoryTalk View, or InTouch.
PLC & Industrial Control Systems Knowledge: Strong understanding of PLCs, field devices, and industrial communication protocols (Modbus, OPC, Ethernet/IP, etc.).
Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve issues in complex systems.
Software Development: Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., VBA, Python, or C#) and experience with SCADA software development tools.
Project Delivery: Experience in delivering SCADA projects on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Industry Experience: Experience in industries such as manufacturing, energy, utilities, or water/wastewater is preferred.
Certifications: Relevant certifications in SCADA, automation, or control systems (e.g., AVEVA, Rockwell Automation, InTouch) are advantageous.
Desirable: Knowledge of cybersecurity practices for SCADA systems, experience with database management, and familiarity with cloud-based SCADA solutions.
