To work as part of the multi-disciplinary team providing dietetic input to patients and to liaise with other disciplines and agencies as required in the planning and implementation of patient care. Delivers specialised dietetic services to patients, using a wide range of appropriate and sensitive communication skills and counselling, and behaviour change techniques. Uses analytical and problem solving skills to interpret analyse and evaluate complex information from a variety of sources e.g. medical notes, diagnostic tests, clinical investigations and information from patients and carers. Frequently dealing with a wide spectrum of medical conditions and, therefore, nutritional diagnoses and dietary interventions. Working with patients in a variety of settings, frequently facing variable and unexpected situations, e.g. verbally abusive patients/carers, etc. To provide, individually tailored advice for patients To educate patients and their relatives / carers about their condition and its significance and ensure that care information and support is available. To use negotiating and persuasive skills to facilitate effective service delivery within the specialty team and Directorate. To support and liaise with the dietitians, dietetic assistants and student dietitians. To actively participate in ward meetings, ward rounds, case conferences as appropriate. To liaise with and work as an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team, building and maintaining effective working relationships within the Trust and the health economy.
