Field Service Engineer/ Electrician (Solar/BESS/EV)

Overview:
Join a dynamic team of industry-leading professionals as an O&M Field Service Engineer/Electrician. We are looking for experienced individuals with a background in utility-scale Solar, Battery Storage (BESS), and Electric Vehicle (EV) systems. This role is essential to ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of PV systems, offering technical reporting and performing preventative and corrective maintenance tasks. Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate closely with the Management team to supervise and execute planned preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, fault finding, new installations, and remedial works.
Conduct routine maintenance, testing, and remedial work on deployed solar PV/BESS/EV systems.
Comply with company procedures and perform Preventative Maintenance according to PPM plans.
Provide comprehensive reports in line with company standards, prepared promptly and diligently, either remotely or on-site.
Document and report site activities daily through the companys CRM or manual reports.
Adhere to all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) procedures and participate actively in risk assessments.
Comply with fire, health, and safety requirements, attend necessary training, and adhere to current policies and risk assessments.
Assist with major installations and commissioning tasks.
Take full ownership of assigned sites and manage relationships with local subcontractors.
Minimum Experience:
Previous experience as a Field Engineer/Electrician.
Experience in utility-scale Solar/BESS/EV construction, installation, and maintenance.
Inverter maintenance experience.
Preferably, experience with High Voltage (HV) Switching.
Knowledge of network infrastructure (e.g., LAN, routers, switches).
Skills:
Valid UK Driving Licence.
Willingness to travel flexibly.
Comfortable working at heights.
Strong team player with excellent time-management and punctuality.
Ability to work under pressure and prioritize workload effectively.
HSE awareness and a passion for renewables.
Strong site experience and hands-on mentality.
Qualifications:
Approved electrician in the UK.
Recognized electrical qualifications such as City and Guilds 2382-18 (18th Edition BS 7671) and Testing and Inspection Certification 2391.
CSCS or ECS card holder.
Willingness to travel for existing and new projects, with potential overnight stays.
Excellent communication skills for interacting with customers and colleagues.
Knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems, including AC distribution boards, DC combiner boxes, inverters, transformers, and automation panels.
High Voltage systems knowledge up to 33kV in terms of switching operations and maintenance is advantageous.
Proficient in using IT equipment and Microsoft Office for reporting.
Diligent and knowledgeable approach to Health and Safety.
IOSH or NEBOSH certification.
LV/HV Jointers qualifications and experience are a plus.
Schedule:
Monday to Friday, with overtime available.
