Lisa Marie is a lively 50-year-old woman living with her brother Wayne and his family in Byker, Newcastle Upon Tyne. She has complex health issues, including epilepsy managed with medication, bowel issues, and developmental delay, resulting in the mental capacity of an infant. Lisa requires support with daily routines to provide stability and structured care.
Lisa attends a daycare centre five days a week. The role involves supporting her brother with morning routines, bathing, and assisting with observations and medication management after training. Lisa is non-verbal but communicates through hand signals and vocal noises, which you'll learn over time.
She enjoys bath time, sensory toys, music (especially Barry Manilow and boybands), and family outings in her brother’s van. Lisa has a cheeky sense of humor, can be shy initially but warms up quickly, and loves crisps and chocolate, particularly Quavers.
The role includes full personal care, support with feeding when needed, and the use of hoists and wheelchairs, requiring good physical fitness. Flexibility is essential, with daily visits in the morning and early evening, days to be discussed.
There is a genuine occupational requirement for the successful candidate to be male or female, in accordance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 and Equality Act 2010.
This vacancy will close once a suitable candidate is appointed. The candidate must have permission to work in the UK at the start of employment.
