The role of the Finance Business Analyst is to provide strategic insight and analysis that enables the business to meet its financial and operational goals and understand risks and opportunities.
Required to develop close working relationships with key stakeholders to enable them to understand the business and provide insightful analysis, the Finance Business Analyst will be tasked with understanding root causes behind the numbers, to ensure that decisions are made based on informed analysis.
Along with providing support to the wider finance function, the Finance Business Analyst ensures that processes are in place to improve the quality of accounting information and minimise deviations to plan. They play a key role in planning and forecasting cycles, and generate insightful commentary to explain complex business outcomes to a broad audience.
Your responsibilities
* Provides analysis of financial performance including commentary to clearly explain deviations to plan and/or forecast, and highlight ongoing trends
* Provides financial insight and analysis to support decision making and challenge the business
* Identifies and analyses core financial trends and their root causes
* Works with the Financial Reporting team to ensure accuracy of month end accounts, investigates anomalies and rectifying when required
* Key part of the planning, forecasting and budgeting process, collating information, challenging submissions and providing insight to relevant stakeholders
* Headcount planning and monitoring, including understanding of deviations in headcount and personnel costs
* Improves finance processes to better support the business and drive efficiencies
* Undertakes ad-hoc projects as directed by the Head of Finance
* You will be a part-qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) as a minimum
* Degree educated is preferred, but not essential
* You can demonstrate a high level of proficiency in MS office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
* You need to possess strong data analysis skills including financial/business modelling exposure
* Articulate and demonstrated experience communicating complex issues
* Possess high level of resilience and the ability to work under pressure
* Ability to work as part of a cross-divisional team, as well as independently
* Ability to present information in a structured, balanced, and engaging way
