Calling all compassionate and dedicated individuals! Mencap is seeking passionate Support Workers to join our incredible team in Shaw, Oldham – OL2
As a Support Worker, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will be working with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs.
From assisting with daily activities to providing emotional support, you’ll play a vital role in their life.
This is a busy house, two ladies lives here with varying interests. One lady attends a day service four days per week and has weekend support from another provider. She likes eating out, dancing, the odd Bacardi and coke, her hair done just right, make-up and perfume.
The other lady is solely supported by Mencap and likes her routine, she likes her place on the sofa and to buy things in two’s, she has her own car and so a driver is essential (manual licence). She also likes to go out and about in the community and attends lots of social clubs.
It’s a happy, well kept house and we would like a happy, positive, and calm, caring person to join our well established team. You will eventually be lone working so the ability work on your own initiative would be good. You would have the support of the team and Service manager.
What we're looking for:
A genuine passion for supporting others.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities.Contract options:
Full-time: 37.5 hrs - It is essential that applicants to this role are Drivers with a full UK Driving Licence - due to the location of the service and the requirement to drive the vehicles of the people we support.Shift times:
All our services are 24hr care. We prepare the rotas at least 4 weeks in advance so you can still plan your personal and social life!
Sleep-ins:
There is also a sleep-in available where you will receive an enhanced flat rate payment of £62:45
