About the Project
The Sustainable Communities Seedhill project is designed to empower local residents and build capacity to ensure a sustainable future for Seedhill’s Community Art Space (CAS). With RIG Arts’ lease of the space concluding in March 2025, the goal is to create a community-informed exit plan or transition to community ownership of the space. The project seeks to explore how residents can take an active role in managing the CAS, fostering community cohesion and reducing social isolation, particularly for marginalised groups.
Key Responsibilities
1. Community Engagement & Capacity Building: Work closely with residents to increase their involvement in managing the CAS, and building their skills, confidence, and leadership abilities.
2. Research & Feasibility Study: Collaborate with the project team to research and develop a feasibility study exploring options for community ownership of the CAS beyond March 2025.
3. Stakeholder Collaboration: Identify and work with key community stakeholders, including local organisations, to support the sustainability of the space.
4. Workshop Facilitation: Help design and deliver community consultations and workshop blocks to ensure residents influence future decisions about the space.
5. Building Networks: Strengthen local networks to reduce social isolation and increase opportunities for community engagement in cultural and social activities.
6. Data Collection & Evaluation: Track participation, feedback, and community impact through both qualitative and quantitative means, contributing to reports on project outputs and outcomes.
Qualifications & Skills
1. Proven experience in community development, capacity building, or a related field.
2. Strong facilitation skills with a passion for empowering communities.
3. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, particularly in engaging with marginalised groups.
4. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
5. Experience in research, strategic planning, and report writing.
