Hays Procurement is excited to be working on a new position within the Public Sector for a Senior Category Manager. The position will be based in Rotherham with flexible and hybrid working policies.
Role Overview
As a Senior Category Manager, you will be responsible for managing a category team, providing professional and technical procurement advice and training to colleagues, customers, and suppliers to ensure compliance with UK procurement law and the organisation's Financial and Procurement Procedure Rules.
This involves developing strategies and delivering procurement projects by leading teams through the procurement cycle, from project inception and developing business cases to final contract award and payment of invoices.
You will also provide contract management support and advice to contract owners to improve quality, reduce costs, and promote ethical practices, including delivering Social Value benefits from the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement category strategies and plans.
2. Lead and manage procurement projects and teams.
3. Engage with Senior Managers and Directors to determine and execute the forward plan.
4. Develop strong stakeholder relationships across the organisation.
5. Manage and develop staff within your category team.
6. Ensure compliance with UK procurement legislation and policies.
7. Promote ethical procurement practices and Social Value initiatives.
Requirements
* Experience in a similar role and holding MCIPS qualification.
* Experience in developing and implementing category strategies and managing multiple procurement projects.
* In-depth knowledge of UK public procurement legislation, policies, and best practices.
* Experience managing stakeholder relationships at all levels.
* Experience developing and managing procurement staff.
* Knowledge of ethical procurement and delivering Social Value.
* Experience delivering procurement training.
* Experience assessing risk and managing change within procurement.
* Understanding of Purchase to Pay processes is desirable.
Benefits
Salary between £48,474 - £51,515 per annum plus benefits including 33 days' holiday plus bank holidays, a local government pension scheme, and flexible/hybrid working options.
