Job Purpose The Commercial Estimator is responsible for providing detailed cost estimates for manufacturing projects, including the review of customer Request for Quotations to prepare time, cost, materials, and labour estimates.
They will develop detailed cost estimates for projects, consult with stakeholders to discuss and formulate estimates, evaluate project risks and track actual costs relative to bids.
This role requires a thorough understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, labor, and overhead costs.
The Estimator will work closely with commercial, supply chain, engineering, and production teams to ensure accurate and competitive pricing for potential clients, as well as to support the execution of projects within budget.
This role ensures projects are financially viable and competitive.
Responsibilities Cost Calculation and Analysis Prepare and analyse accurate costings for complex and large-scale component manufacturing and assembly.
This will include calculations covering materials, quantities, and labour time.
Request for Bid Solicitation/Proposal/Tender Response Gather information and resources, draft and complete proposals, and fulfill all process requirements (in terms of deadlines, documentation, etc.) in response to complex bid solicitations, request for proposal, and request for tender to create the best chance of being awarded the contract.
Project Budgeting Develop, deliver, and manage budget plans for standard projects with guidance from senior colleagues.
Monitor and perform budget progress and post calculations.
Bid Solicitation/Request for Proposal/Tender Analysis Conduct feasibility studies from technological, financial, and organisational perspectives on aspects of bid solicitation, including Request for Quotation proposal (RFQ) and Request for Tender (RFT) project requirements, and write specifications for tenders.
Data Collection and Analysis Conduct research using primary data sources, and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends.
Operational Compliance Maintain and renew a deep knowledge and understanding of the organization's policies and procedures and of relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, and ensure own work adheres to required standards.
