2nd Shift - 4:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m.
Summary
This position functions as the Bindery supervisor. The bindery supervisor must fully understand the goals and philosophies of the company and be able to apply them to the daily operation. Position responsible for all of the bindery operations for your shift, the daily workflow schedule, quality control, equipment maintenance, training, and crew development. The bindery shift supervisor must be able to make clear decisions and carry them out in a quick and professional manner. In addition to establishing and improving production standards, the role includes working with others in the company to provide the highest level of customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Manage shift to reach company’s customer service, profit, sales, and growth goals.
* Manage the daily production schedule for your shift.
* Inspect jobs to verify conformance to specifications and direct setups and adjustments of the machines.
* Monitor the performance of the crew and make the necessary adjustments to meet or exceed production goals.
* Ensure that the individuals on the bindery production floor are busy with productive work.
* Oversee all bindery personnel to ensure that production is running smoothly and efficiently.
* Conduct a final inspection of the product being produced to assure accurate trim, weight, and addressing.
* Enforce safety regulations.
* Study production schedules and establish or adjust work procedures to meet deadlines set.
* Communicate the job vision and expectations to the crew.
* Assist in developing and administering department operational policies and procedures through regular company and departmental meetings.
* Assist in developing and implementing immediate and long-range plans for department personnel and equipment.
* Work in a team environment with other shift supervisors to enhance customer service and operational efficiency.
* Administer reviews for each employee on your shift.
* Follow up on machine maintenance schedule, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs.
* Follow department operational policies and procedures.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Associates degree in business/management or related field; or 3 to 5 years printing experience and/or 3 to 5 years of management experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to apply basic math concepts (add, subtract, multiply, and divide) and to convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions. Ability to accurately use all measurement tools including rulers, micrometers, calipers, and various testing equipment. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical and Working Conditions
The job is performed in a manufacturing facility with exposure to large equipment, noise, and materials related to the printing process. The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
* Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
* Ability to occasionally bend, stoop, or kneel.
* Ability to use hands and arms to type, reach, handle, or feel.
* Ability to regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
