Role Overview: We are looking for an experienced Data Architect with expertise in AWS Data Lakes to design, build, and manage data architectures that enable advanced analytics and data-driven decision-making. In this role, you will architect scalable and efficient data platforms on AWS, ensuring data availability, security, and performance. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in AWS services related to data storage, data processing, and analytics, as well as expertise in data modelling and governance for data lakes. Key Responsibilities: Design and implement data architectures that enable scalable, efficient, and secure data storage and processing in an AWS Data Lake. Define data models, schemas, and governance practices that ensure data quality, consistency, and accessibility across the organisation. Data Lake Management & Optimisation. Architect, build, and maintain AWS Data Lakes using services such as Amazon S3, Glue, Redshift, and Athena. Optimise data storage, data cataloguing, and data processing pipelines for performance and cost-efficiency. Design and develop ETL processes to ingest and transform data from various structured and unstructured data sources into the Data Lake. Implement real-time data streaming and batch processing pipelines using AWS services like Kinesis, Lambda, and Glue Ensure data architectures adhere to security best practices, including encryption, access control, and data privacy compliance (e.g., GDPR). Implement data governance policies and manage data access controls to ensure data security and integrity. Enable advanced analytics and business intelligence by designing data architectures that support analytics tools, such as AWS QuickSight, Redshift, and third-party solutions. Be able to provide High-level & Low-level designs Monitor the performance of data pipelines, storage solutions, and analytics platforms, ensuring system reliability and minimal downtime Continuously improve and optimise data architectures to reduce costs, enhance performance, and scale with business growth. Work closely with data engineering teams, business stakeholders, and IT leadership to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to data engineers and developers. Key Skills & Qualifications: Current AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics) Proven experience as a Data Architect, with a focus on AWS Data Lake and data warehousing solutions. Expertise in AWS services related to data storage and processing, such as S3, Glue, Redshift, Athena, and Kinesis. Strong knowledge of data modelling, data governance, and data lifecycle management. Experience designing and optimising ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration processes. Solid understanding of data security, compliance, and privacy best practices.
