Environmental Advisor

An opportunity has arisen for an Environmental Advisor to join the team at Morrison Construction, Galliford Try.
Ideally you will be based in or around the Inverness Area and will have the opportunity to travel across multiple Sites in the Region.
What you will be doing:
* Foster and support an inclusive, open, transparent, and collaborative environment that supports our Environmental culture, maturity, and behaviours to deliver HS&E excellence.
* Support the implementation of our HS&E strategy to drive continual improvement through the business addressing short-, medium-, and long-term growth and learning. This will be achieved through collaboration with others in our teams and other key stakeholders.
* Proactively drive and promote our behavioural culture programme in line with the business.
* Represent and promote environmental in internal and external meetings, workshops, management reviews and forums – communicating best practice standards and initiatives.
* Implement our environmental management system, taking account of client requirements, to align with our overall strategy and drive performance through our processes and standards.
* Engage with internal and external key stakeholders, including client, supply chain partners, regulatory authorities, industry bodies, and colleagues, through the project lifecycle.
* Provide environmental input to operational teams from the planning stage through to completion of any works, through guidance, advice, and support to support proactive planning and implementation of our standards. Takes appropriate action where our standards are not being met.
* Support operational staff in the review of high-risk method statements and risk assessments.
* Carry out environmental reviews and inspections at our workplaces on a regular basis, conduct site safety and support ISO14001 audits to ensure compliance with our management systems.
* Support our learning and development programme by preparing and delivering training and awareness sessions, instructions, best practice guidance, codes of practice, environmental information, etc. to our operational and leadership teams, our clients and at industry events as required.
* Utilise environmental performance KPIs to review performance and drive continual improvement.
* Contribute to continual improvement to unlock gains in environmental performance and mitigate risk to MC/GT that could occur through environmental related issues.
* Responsible for investigating incidents and non-conformities, production of reports and leading opportunities for improvement, as appropriate.
About You:

* Highly collaborative and outstanding relationship building capacity, with strong communication, negotiating, engaging, and influencing skills – breaks down silos, and supports and fosters a one-team approach.
* Able to evidence a well-structured, systematic approach to identify and analyse problems, understand risks, and implement appropriate solutions.
* Ideally experienced in environmental management in construction, or similar regulated markets.
* Proven in environmental management, systems, risks, and legal frameworks.
* Experienced in delivering environmental role in a project lifecycle environment (tender, pre-start and construction).
* Knowledge of data analytics and reporting systems.
* Full driving license and willingness to travel across projects/contracts in region.
* Competent use of IT – Microsoft packages, Database systems such as: ActivSHEQ etc.
