We are currently recruiting for a passionate Installation Manager to join our Visual Arts team on a full time, permanent basis.
The Installation Manager specialises in the technical development and delivery of visual art projects. The role requires an experienced senior art handling/technical professional with extensive technical experience gained in a visual art environment. The ability to manage schedules and multi-disciplinary installations is essential, as well as working collaboratively and creatively to advise on, support and deliver technical and production services. This is a challenging role which requires excellent organisational skills, strong communication skills and a flexible approach to work.
Successful candidates will have significant experience of art handling best practice, project management, and planning the technical aspects of complex visual art installations. You will be highly practical with the ability to solve problems as they occur and able to work effectively under pressure. You will need a proactive approach, and well-developed interpersonal skills are essential to liaise with a wide range of individuals including artists, curatorial teams, and contractors, in-house and freelance technicians.
You will have a proven ability to manage installation teams, and a knowledge of working to security and health & safety procedures, with the ability to both create and assess Risk Assessments and Method Statements. You will work as part of the Hayward technical team and will be rostered flexibly between 7am and 11pm (and occasionally outside of this) over 7 days to meet the needs of the programme. The hours of work are 160 hours over a 4-week roster period.
