On 1 April 2019 Cwm Taf University Health Board changed its name to Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board as it took responsibility for providing healthcare services for the people in the Bridgend County Borough area. Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB now provides primary, community, hospital, and mental health services to the 450,000 people living in three County Boroughs – Bridgend, Merthyr Tydfil, and Rhondda Cynon Taf.
Ideally situated between Wales’s capital city, Cardiff, to the south, the coastal town of Porthcawl to the west, and the stunning scenery of the Brecon Beacons to the north, we operate within a vibrant community, rich in history and heritage.

Job overview
We are delighted to offer this fixed-term Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist post with a specialist clinical area of complex speech difficulties, which has been created as a result of an internal secondment.
Are you an enthusiastic therapist who is passionate about supporting children's speech, language and communication needs and who is looking to further develop their management and leadership skills?
We are looking for a therapist who works well as part of a team with excellent communication skills and enjoys working collaboratively with others. You will demonstrate the Health Board values and behaviours of listening, learning and improving, treating everyone with respect and always working together as one team.
This post is fixed term for 20 months to meet the needs of the service.

The post holder will work in the children's community team providing highly specialist assessment, diagnosis and support to children with highly complex speech and language needs with a specific clinical specialist area of complex speech difficulties.
The post holder will provide clinical support, second opinions and supervision for other members of the SLT team.
The post holder will develop your leadership skills, as you will be responsible for the operational management of clinical locations and will provide line management to other SLTs in the team.
The post holder will work together with other Highly Specialist SLTs and you will lead on quality improvement and service development initiatives.
Cwm Taf Morgannwg SLT department are a friendly and compassionate team who place a strong commitment to supporting staff well-being, supervision and continued professional development.
The Children's SLT Team uses Malcomess Care Aims and Advanced Decision Making principles across the service in conjunction with many of the multi-disciplinary team. The children's SLT service has a range of clinical specialists available for support and second opinions and staff are fully supported by a line management structure, Paediatric Team Leads and an Admin Team.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post: Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Applicant requirements
You must have appropriate UK professional registration. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service. Welsh language skills are desirable.

Essential criteria
* Speech and Language Therapy Degree
* HCPC Registration
* Evidence of relevant CPD acquired through masters level qualification or equivalent portfolio
Experience
Essential criteria
* Relevant post-registration experience in paediatric settings.
* Experience of using a variety of assessments and interventions for children with SLCN.
* Experience of providing placements for SLT students
* Experience in participating in Quality Improvement projects/ departmental audits
Desirable criteria
* Experience of line managing staff
* Experience of providing second opinions
* Experience in leading a project/ a team/ a clinical area
Knowledge
Essential criteria
* In depth working knowledge of the ALNET Act
* Knowledge of clinical governance issues.
Skills

* Able to analyse complex assessment information for complex cases and make specialist clinical decisions.
* Able to risk-assess situations 'on the spot'
