City St George’s, University of London seeks to appoint a new Chief People Officer. City, University of London and St George’s, University of London merged on 1st August 2024 to enable us to become a powerful multi-faculty institution with a distinctive focus on professional education and research at the frontier of practice across health, business, law, creativity, communications, science and technology. We are one of the largest higher education destinations for London students.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Chief People Officer will be a member of the University’s Senior Leadership Team and will work closely with the University President. The Chief People Officer’s primary role is to lead the development and implementation of the people management, staff engagement and well-being elements of the University’s Strategy, including the delivery of an excellent employee experience. This is a broad role leading a directorate of over 60 colleagues, encompassing strategic leadership around culture, employee engagement, and staff development, all working towards attracting and retaining the very best staff to deliver our ambitions.
We are seeking an outstanding individual to fulfil this key role. You will demonstrate an ability to define and lead strategic people and culture change at levels of scale and complexity comparable to those at the University. You will be able to articulate a clear vision for a contemporary approach to people-oriented leadership in a complex organisation, combining excellent technical knowledge of relevant legislation and policies as they relate to people matters, with a forward-thinking approach to what an effective people function looks like in a world-class institution.
