Apply locations: Wick (Geog) | Time type: Full time | Posted on: 11 Days Ago | End Date: January 23, 2025 (1 day left to apply) | Job requisition id: R9673
Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland.
At Scottish Water, we look after Scotland's most precious natural resource. From source to tap, we are guarding Scotland’s reputation for refreshingly pure water and caring for our environment.
We are looking for motivated people to join the Wick Area Team within Customer Service Delivery.
What you’ll do
You will join a motivated multifunctional team committed to enhancing our customers' experience. This is not just a task-driven role; you will be empowered to take ownership of problems, investigate them fully, initiate solutions, and provide support to our customers.
You will be responsible for excavation, maintenance, and repair on water networks, maintaining water network assets including service reservoirs and pumping stations, and addressing customer-related issues on a day-to-day basis.
The focus of the role will be to ensure the resolution of customer issues and to mitigate any reputational impact our operations may have on customers.
As a member of our multifunctional response team, you will participate in an out-of-hours multifunctional standby rota, which will include maintenance and choke clearing on sewer networks and a variety of other tasks.
What you’ll bring
You’ll need to be self-motivated, eager to contribute to your team’s goals, and possess basic IT skills, as you’ll be using digital equipment and apps throughout the day. Report writing skills are essential to communicate clearly and accurately.
Understanding health and safety principles for site work or basic ground skills is important.
A full, clean driving licence is non-negotiable, and ideally, a Category C1 Driving licence and a digger/excavator ticket would be advantageous, though full training will be provided to the right candidate.
It would be desirable to have some ground maintenance skills and knowledge of water and sewer networks; however, full training will be provided, including digger training, HGV training, and street works.
Looking out for you
This role includes standby responsibilities and the possibility of overtime. You will receive 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays), with the option to buy five additional days. Time off to volunteer in your community is also available.
We offer family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave, as well as flexible working options.
For your future, we provide a pension plan and life assurance. Additionally, you can expect an annual company bonus and access to SW Splash, which offers discounts on holidays, bills, and shopping.
The not-so-small print
This role will be a Grade 4. New employees will start with a salary of £27,590, with performance-driven pay progression allowing movement to a maximum of £32,410.
Job offers at Scottish Water are conditional and will be confirmed upon completion of pre-employment screening, including referencing, criminal record checks, and license checks, which are conducted by a third party with your permission.
If you’re interested in this role, applications will be accepted until the 22nd of January at midnight.
A few final things worth knowing…
