Job Summary
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual who is keen to work in our Pulmonary Rehabilitation team to support with the provision of exercise and information classes for patients with chronic breathing difficulties. The post will include face-to-face exercise activities with patients and associated administrative duties.
Applications are sought from individuals who are committed to providing high-quality patient care, have excellent communication skills and can demonstrate the ability to cope in a range of busy and challenging environments.
You will be joining a team who provide high-quality patient-focused care and will be required to work within a busy outpatient environment, both on the hospital site and local satellite centres. Training for this role will be provided to support your development through supervision, competency training and in-service training.
Main duties of the job
If successful, you will be required to work with patients with a variety of different presentations that can include:
1. Patients with long-term breathing conditions who have become weak due to reduced activity.
2. Elderly patients who require therapy to support them to manage their condition.
3. Patients who have become acutely unwell and require therapy to support their recovery once discharged.
4. Patients following thoracic surgery.

Job responsibilities
The role involves supporting patients during the classes to carry out exercises prescribed by the physiotherapist and provide information to help them to manage their condition independently. You will be involved in setting up and packing away equipment for the exercise classes.
You would be required to collect basic information from patients, in person and over the telephone, report to the therapist and work as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
The role will include a responsibility for administrative duties including speaking to patients on the telephone, booking appointments and completion of session outcomes on the electronic database.

Qualifications Essential
1. Good level of general education
2. Good standard of literacy - no errors in application
3. Basic Computer Skills - no errors in application

1. NVQ level 2 or 3
Experience in healthcare Essential
1. Experience working in an administration
2. Experience working in a people-facing role e.g. customer service role

1. Previous NHS or Care Experience
