Job overview
We have a full time vacancy for a permanent post of Elective Care Booking Manager. The post holder will be based at the Conquest but will be expected to divide their time weekly between our other sites Eastbourne and Bexhill hospital. The hours of Service are Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team and ensuring that theatre schedules are fully booked in accordance with Trust policies. The successful candidate will work in a busy office, communicating daily with a variety of internal and external parties, including clinicians, nurses, administrative staff, and the general public. Strong communication skills are essential. Flexibility and the ability to multitask are required due to the fast-paced and ever-changing nature of the role.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Good general level of education including Maths and English
2. Management qualification (diploma / NVQ 3/4) or proven equivalent training and experience
3. Evidence of continued professional development to degree level or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
4. IT qualification or evidence of equivalent training / skill
5. Ability to undertake additional training as required in post on new and updated systems as and when required
Desirable criteria
1. NHS Management or Leadership Training
Experience
Essential criteria
1. Proven administration experience within the NHS or similar large organisation
2. Significant experience in an admissions office and managing waiting lists
3. Previous experience of computerised and manual record systems
4. Previous managerial experience, managing and developing staff
5. Experience of working in a busy environment and managing competing demands
Desirable criteria
1. Experience of Managing staff within NHS / Public Sector organisation
2. Experience of managing a budget
Skills
Essential criteria
1. Knowledge and understanding of national targets and initiatives relating to bookings
2. Recruitment, selection and management skills
3. Excellent communication skills, able to interact effectively with patients, carers, staff and external contacts at all levels
4. Able to deal calmly and professionally with difficult situations / individuals
5. Trained on computerised Patient Administration and Waiting List Systems (preferably OASIS PAS)
