ENT Specialist
40 hours per week - 12 months contract
Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust are seeking a Specialty Doctor in ENT Surgery to join the ENT Team at Tameside Hospital for 12 months.
The post holder will be expected to undertake both general adult and paediatric ENT work; this will include the management of elective and emergency patients. We are a young and dynamic department, keen to progress our services and make the most of the opportunities available to us.
The successful applicant should have the ability and commitment to promote best practice in patient management in conjunction with delivering local and national targets. Your experience and enthusiasm will be supported by a skilled team of clinical staff along with a full complement of dedicated and trained nurses.
Main Job Purpose:
To provide a clinical specialist ENT service and a second on-call weekday service for Tameside General Hospital only.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Outpatient work: 5-6 general clinics
2. Theatre work: ad hoc/max 2 sessions (consultant-led lists with a junior trainee)
3. Admin & SPA: 2-3 sessions
4. Ward rounds - daily
5. Administrative work - reviewing results, reviewing letters, and organising the rota
6. Teaching / audit / research - teaching medical students and FY2 and GP trainees and participating in departmental audits
On-call:
At present there is a 1 in 4 on-call during the week only (Monday 8am to Friday 5pm) as we are a 5-day department with prospective cover. These are 24-hour non-resident on-calls with first on-call cover provided by ENT juniors through the day and orthopaedic and general surgical juniors out of hours. There is no weekend on-call commitment.
Banding supplements may be altered in the light of changes in working patterns in order to make posts compliant with the New Deal. Any changes in pay bands will be undertaken in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of service. Confirmation of the banding allocated to successful candidates will be confirmed upon commencement.
