What you’ll do: Work closely with Chemists, Materials Scientists, Engineers, and Biologists to support activities including chemical analysis, device fabrication, and applications testing Take a lead role in planning and co-ordinating technician work across the R&D chemistry team, for both project work and laboratory management activities Run chemical reactions for modification of membrane materials in flow reactors, and perform analytical tests, e. g. Raman Spectroscopy, SEC-HPLC, LC-MS, and dry weight As area owner for both Chemistry and Materials development labs, take a leading role in both daily management (inc. inventory management, waste disposal) and continuous improvement to ensure an organised and safe working environment Write up experimental findings in Electronic Lab Notebook entries and Technical reports Who you are: Either Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline with minimum of 2 years laboratory experience in a relevant industry role, or Science A-levels (or equivalent) with minimum 5 years laboratory experience Experience in wet chemistry and/or one or more of the analytical methods listed above Proficiency in MS Office Applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Teamworking ability, attention to detail and interpersonal skills Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, able to multi-task efficiently It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in: Working in a chemistry team within the biotechnology industry Co-ordinating the technical work of others within a small team The salary range for this role is £35-40K per year. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
