SUMMARY
MANIFEST, a UKRI/MRC funded consortium and platform, leverages scalable methodologies to provide deep profiling of patients receiving immunotherapy; delivering multimodal data integration and modelling. The platform comprises NHS trusts (hospitals), research institutes, universities, and industry partners. The aim of MANIFEST is to harmonise sampling, assays, and analyses of IO biomarkers and couple them with large-scale studies in patients with cancer in an unprecedented manner; to establish a world-leading sustainable immune-profiling platform; to grow the future generation of immunotherapy experts; and to make the UK a world leader in immunotherapy development through attracting biotech and industry engagement and investment.
An exciting Consortium Programme Manager position is available for MANIFEST, a newly formed ambitious multi-stakeholder consortium involving academic, industry, and NHS partners. The MANIFEST consortium represents a diverse group of UK-wide experts in cancer research and clinical care comprising major NHS trusts, academic institutes, universities, and industry partners. This grant is funded by the UK Office of Life Sciences (OLS) and the Medical Research Council (MRC).
The Consortium Programme Manager will play a critical role, working with all consortium partners, to deliver on its goals and milestones. The role is most suited to someone who has experience managing complex grants or projects with national or international reach and ambition, preferably within the scientific or pharmaceutical industry. The post will be based at the Crick in London and will involve working closely with consortium partners throughout the UK.
The post is offered full-time (36 hours per week), on a fixed-term basis for 48 months.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
These include but are not limited to:
1. Act as programme manager for the MANIFEST consortium overseeing all day-to-day activities.
2. Act as the central point of communication for all academic, industry, and NHS hospital partners and operational staff to ensure the smooth running of the programme.
3. Build positive, long-term relationships with all stakeholders including funders and current and future consortium partners.
4. Support the programme, providing oversight of project plans, timelines, and milestones to track progress in collaboration with scientists, clinicians, and consortium members.
5. Identify project risk areas and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
6. Develop project reports both for funders and stakeholders (e.g. newsletters).
7. Identify and evaluate areas for engagement and liaise with potential new partners.
8. Participate in strategic planning in collaboration with the Programme Steering Committee and Science Advisory Board meetings.
9. Organise annual meetings and workshops in liaison with consortium partners.
10. Lead on effectively monitoring and reporting KPIs and programme outputs per grant requirements.
11. Work with the Crick HR and Legal teams to ensure that any recruitment and associated contracts are managed efficiently.
12. Work with the Crick Finance team to manage the grant finances, ensuring that expenditure is monitored, managed, and reported on time and according to donor rules.
13. Work with the Crick Grants team to ensure that necessary due diligence and audit work is undertaken in line with funder requirements and Crick policy.
14. Work with the Crick Communications Team to develop a communications policy around social media and publicity.
15. Work with the Crick Translation Team to evaluate new industry partnerships.
16. Develop positive and productive working relationships with all internal colleagues, liaising closely with Grants, Finance, HR, Legal, and other teams to ensure effective programme management.
17. Able to educate others on project management best practices and ensure continual improvement is delivered through capacity building and innovation.

Essential Skills/Experience
1. Undergraduate degree in a relevant subject or substantial relevant experience.
2. Experience in the management of science and/or research projects in an academic, non-profit, or pharmaceutical environment.
3. Programme management experience across the whole of the grant lifecycle, from project start-up through to close-out and grant reporting.
4. Stakeholder management experience, particularly with scientific, clinical, or pharmaceutical industry partners locally or internationally, supported by excellent relationship-building skills.
5. Experience in managing meetings with senior stakeholders, including setting agendas, taking minutes, and delivering on objectives.
6. Ability to monitor and analyse complex financial data and produce reliable and accurate financial reports as per the grant reporting requirements.
7. Ability to problem-solve and work independently.
8. Ability to manage a heavy workload and prioritise competing demands.
9. A supportive and effective team member, able to work collaboratively with other administrative and scientific departments, and with their professional peers across the consortium.
10. Strong written communication skills, able to express themselves clearly in writing and produce reports and other documentation.
11. Skilled communicator with an ability to communicate well with people at different levels and disciplines.
12. Be open to change and demonstrate a flexible and adaptable approach.
Desirable Skills/Experience
1. A postgraduate qualification in biological or life sciences, especially in the area of cancer, immunology, or biomarkers.
2. Experience in the management of large consortia in scientific and/or healthcare research.
3. Experience of multidisciplinary working.
4. Experience of strategy development.
5. Professional project management qualification such as Prince2, APM, or AgilePM.
6. Understanding of Data Management within a research environment.
7. Understanding of Good Clinical Practice and Good Laboratory Practice.
