We are seeking a skilled ICU Technician Assistant to join the ICU Technician team providing specialist technical support on a 23 bed unit. Every day we strive to deliver excellent and compassionate care to our patients.
Informal visits are encouraged as this role on ICU differs from other Technician roles in the trust.
Main duties of the job
1. Electronic stock management system administration of clinical consumables
2. Ensure stock levels are maintained
3. Ensure consumables are within date and safe to use
4. Maintain and ensure the safe use of complex high-risk medical equipment used in patient areas
5. Prepare and clean medical equipment to be used on patients
6. Support medical and nursing staff in preparing equipment for use
7. Ensure daily checking of ICU equipment
8. Under supervision, undertake routine maintenance of all Intensive Care equipment with clinical engineering and outside agencies
9. Record service histories
10. Assist with the evaluation of equipment for purchase and development and tender specifications and trials
11. Ensure resuscitation equipment is available for use in the whole trust
12. Plan routine working rotas and equipment service schedules

Job responsibilities
This role is subject to experience. It is envisaged the post holder will come in as a band 4 and be developed until such time they reach the competencies required to become a band 5 member of the team. If the post holder already has suitable experience, it may be offered at the higher band. Both job descriptions are attached.
Person Specification
Education
* O HNC certificate in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement or a degree in a relevant scientific subject e.g. Physiology, Biomedical Science, Computer Science
* HND/Diploma ODP or biomedical engineering module
Experience
* Previous experience of working in a clinical environment
* Recent and broad experience in the use of medical devices
