Are you looking for an exciting opportunity across west London? If you are passionate about making a real difference through supporting vulnerable young people, we would love to hear from you!
We have Bank Support Staff roles in our supported housing services in the borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
The role builds on customer care, health and safety, flexibility, adaptability and other skills to assist homeless young people who are unable to live independently, by offering them the practical and emotional support they need to regain their independence.
Burton White House is a 24-bed service which is a 7-minute walk from Earl’s Court Station. Beacon House is a 16-bed service for single homeless young people aged 16-25. Which is conveniently located a 5-minute walk from Gloucester Road Station or 15-minute walk from Earls Court Station, both services offer excellent transport links across London. There are no parking facilities available at either service.
Our customers come with a range of support needs, such as those associated with mental health, care leaver status, probation, ex-offending, learning disabilities and asylum seeking.
The support for each customer is person-centred, requires creative energy and is hugely rewarding for colleagues as well as life changing for our customers. This means embracing a dynamic work environment where each day presents unique challenges, offering valuable opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Both services aim to support young people to improve on their independent living skills, whilst rehabilitating them back into the community. When customers move in, we use the Recovery Model to empower them to make decisions about their support and our person-centred approach enables them to identify their existing strengths and skills so they can achieve their goals and aspirations. We firmly believe customers can move beyond their current support needs and achieve their full potential by developing new skills and accessing opportunities.
Your job role will vary and no one day is the same! A day in the life of both services could include supporting customers with immigration applications, helping them to access support for substance abuse, watching a movie or cooking a new recipe in the kitchen or going on a wellbeing walk to our local park!
Whilst with us, customers engage in developing life and independent living skills (including building self-esteem, fostering positive relationships, cooking, and budgeting) and therapeutic activities such as art workshops and gardening.
You will support the young people into education, training or employment tailored to their individual needs, circumstances, and goals on various levels; from initial advice and volunteering, to signposting to education, courses, apprenticeships, and paid work.
Our work is complemented by joint working with local agencies and specialist support services where appropriate fostering and promoting our support around well-being and self-care, mental and physical health, life skills, education, employment and training.
A key part of the role is enabling customers to gain necessary support from other agencies so you will need to be able to build relationships with those in other organisations and support customers through their processes to access the support they need such as accessing benefits, housing and education.
You will join a passionate, supportive, and friendly team to work together to provide an excellent service for our young people, using your initiative and putting your creative and innovative ideas into action.
