Band 6 Senior Cardiac Physiologist
This senior physiologist role is to support the cardiac physiology department based at The Royal Free Hospital.
Main duties of the job
* To work independently in the Cardiac cath lab, taking part in the on call rota assisting with coronary angioplasty as part of the 24 hour primary coronary intervention service.
* You will be able to carry out device follow up checks for pacemakers and be part of the inpatient device rota.
* You will also be able to cover all non-invasive cardiac testing in the Cardiology dept when needed, including 12 lead ECG, Ambulatory ECG and BP monitoring and analysis, ETT.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* You will be expected to cover all non-invasive cardiac testing where required across site, including 12 lead ECG, Ambulatory ECG analysis, ETT, TTT and MIBI.
* Be able to work independently in the cardiac cath lab assisting with both elective and primary PCI as part of the on call rota.
* You will be able to carry out device follow up checks for pacemakers and be part of the inpatient device rota.
* You will also be expected to offer support and guidance and train junior team members and students attending placements.
Person specification
Education & professional Qualifications
* BSc in Clinical Cardiac Physiology / BSc Healthcare Science or PTP or STP or equivalent extensive clinical experience to specialist level.
* BHRS or IBHRE or equivalent accreditation or working towards.
* ILS Certification.
Experience
* Experience with implantable cardiac device follow up.
* Appropriate work experience in rhythm management recognition and reporting.
* Able to work in a PCI lab independently as part of elective service and part of on call rota.
Skills and aptitudes
* Ability to work independently in a cardiac cath lab for diagnostic and intervention procedures.
* Demonstrate above average verbal and written communication skills.
* Excellent inter-personal skills.
* Ability to respond quickly during emergency situations and identify momentarily when deviation from protocol or clinical intervention is indicated.
* Flexible approach to work.
* Reliable and honest.
