The role of the qualified and registered Housing Social Worker position is to deliver a professional, empathetic, and effective service to people and families needing long-term sustainable accommodation.
* Play an active role in addressing the needs of our community.
* Deliver best practice and high-quality support for whanau and individuals.

* Show acceptance, inclusion, and genuine interest in people and validate their story and aspirations.
* Listen, relate, and affirm people in such a way that they are encouraged to examine their issues and create solutions that lead to sustained independence.
* Refer clients to internal and external services, in line with their goals, to deliver positive outcomes.
* Ensure the set outcomes are being achieved and reporting aligns with practice.
* Promptly record client interactions and case notes.
* Connect people to Salvation Army services (such as Community Ministries and Corps) that enhance their current circumstances and meet individual needs.
* Engage in Relationship Development and Engagement.
* Practice Frameworks and Reporting.
* Deliver the Transitional Housing Programme.
* Be committed to upholding and supporting The Salvation Army mission and Christian values.
Our ideal candidate will:
* Have proven relevant Social Work experience of at least 2 years.
* Hold a recognised Social Work Degree Qualification or equivalent.
* Be fully registered with the Social Work Registration Board.
* Be legally entitled to work in New Zealand.
* Understand and relate to people from diverse backgrounds and who are experiencing hardship, trauma, and/or mental unwellness.
* Have the ability and commitment to engage and journey with people providing support for personal responsibility and motivation to achieve their own goals.
* Have the ability to adapt approach to the needs and interests of the audience.
* Take a proactive, solution-focused approach using maturity and empathy in problem-solving and reducing barriers to achieving outcomes.
* Initiate identifying professional development needs and training opportunities in consultation with the line manager.

Hours of work: Part-time, 20 hours per week with days and hours of work to be negotiated.
The starting hourly rate for this role will fall between $32 and $49 per hour. This role is covered by the pay equity agreement and the final remuneration will be dependent on the years of experience the preferred candidate brings to the role.
