Archer Technicoat Ltd. (ATL) is a compact enterprise based in High Wycombe, strategically positioned between London and Oxford. ATL specialises in the process of chemical vapour deposition (CVD). CVD is a niche-market coating technology that is widely used across many different market sectors such as aircraft, space, nuclear fission / fusion and semiconductors. ATL has two core divisions. The first is developing new coating processes through research and development programmes, catering to both commercial partners and government projects. It also works to scale up these processes. The second division is engaged in manufacturing industrial CVD equipment for global distribution. This encompasses the entire process from design and construction to commissioning of coating systems for diverse industries, spanning locations worldwide. ATL has established collaborative partnerships with equipment manufacturers in Europe, the USA, and India, all centred around our high technology coating processes. With over four decades of experience in the field, ATL has witnessed significant growth in its workforce over the past decade, expanding from 6 to 20 employees. The company is poised for further expansion in the coming years. We are actively seeking a skilled CVD Scientist to join our team. Qualifications and/or Experience Desired : This position is most likely to interest a recent graduate/final year student with a first degree in Material Science, Natural Science, Chemistry or similar, who is interested in development and experimental work. Candidates with higher degrees or a few years’ experience in a relevant industry will be considered. Nature of the work : Our expanding team needs a scientist to work on CVD coatings in a variety of research and development or small-scale production projects. These projects are at the forefront of European research in areas such as aerospace, nuclear energy and advanced manufacturing. This is primarily an R&D post but involvement in other areas of company activity is foreseen. Working conditions : Standard 37.5 hour week, 8:30 to 17:00, Mon to Fri. 20 working days holiday per year plus bank holidays & 3 days at Christmas. Being a small company some flexibility on both sides is to be expected and we allow some flexitime to give a maximum of 30 days holiday. Salary and Benefits : Negotiable depending on experience.
